Montevallo opening doors to students affected by Birmingham-Southern College closure

The University of Montevallo is working to help students affected by the recently announced closure of Birmingham-Southern College and is offering them an opportunity to seamlessly transition to UM to complete their education. Multiple academic scholarship opportunities are available to eligible students who transfer to Montevallo.

UM admissions counselors are standing by to ensure a smooth transfer process into any of Montevallo’s top-quality and affordable academic programs.

“Our University family shares in the sadness of losing a long-lived, venerable institution. I have met so many accomplished professionals from Birmingham-Southern over the years and have always been impressed with the pride that their constituents have felt for their institution,” said Dr. John W. Stewart III, UM’s president. “We share a common passion for teaching and learning in the humanities and stand ready to make it as easy as possible for Birmingham-Southern students to continue their educational journey.”

At UM, BSC students will be able to continue and complete their already successful college careers. Montevallo has been named a top public regional university by U.S. News & World Report for the past 14 years, a College of Distinction for the past 12 years and one of the most beautiful colleges in the South by Southern Living. Montevallo has frozen its tuition every year since 2018.
